Brewing beer in Nelson Tasman dates back to the early German settlers in the 1840’s, they chose the Upper Moutere (Sarau) for it’s ideal hop growing conditions and location to establish New Zealand’s first pub/hotel along the old Cobb and Co highway.
Nelson also has New Zealand’s oldest Micro brewery, New Zealand’s smallest commercially run micro brewery, many multi-award winning breweries and is responsible for growing all the hops in NZ for the domestic and export markets.
The Best of Both Worlds Tour is designed to give you the freedom and flexibility to choose for example: 2 award winning Nelson wineries and 2 micro breweries, plus lunch at The Moutere Inn New Zealand’s oldest pub (at own cost) or Mapua Wharf for Nelson’s best fish & chips, maybe a real fruit ice cream or a very nice waterfront cafe might be what you are looking for , the choice is yours.
On request we can go to more breweries and less vineyards, we are Nelson’s most flexible tour company.
“In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria” Benjamin Franklin.
Actually, water brings life and is also one of the main ingredients in all beers Mr Franklin.
Wonder what he would say about Vodka!!
