Frequently Asked Questions

Nelson Tours and Travel is not a “drop you at the door and wait in the van” kind of tour company.
CJ is your local guide throughout the day, sharing stories, local knowledge, personal introductions, and a relaxed sense of where to go and when. The tours are designed to feel easy, genuine, and unrushed, with time to enjoy the places you visit rather than simply ticking them off a list.
-
Yes. Our tours have a planned route, but they are not rigid or rushed.
Where possible, we can work with different pickup times, lunch preferences, dietary requirements, and special interests. Depending on the tour and the day, this may include options such as cheese tastings, olive oil tastings, scenic stops, or a particular cellar door you are hoping to visit.
We always do our best to work in with your travel plans and the interests of the group.
-
Yes. Private tours are available and can be tailored to suit your group, schedule, and interests.
Private tours are ideal if you would like more control over the day, prefer a more personal experience, or are travelling with family or friends. We can take a minimum of 2 people and up to 9 people in our minibus.
Please contact us for a private tour quote.
-
Yes, you are welcome to let us know if there is a particular winery, cellar door, or local stop you would love to visit.
We will do our best to include it if there is time available, the venue is open, and it fits naturally into the day’s route. If you would like more control over the itinerary, a private tour may be the best option.
-
We usually offer pickup and drop-off from your Nelson accommodation including Airbnb stays, or an arranged pickup location.

Our tours are small and personal.
The minibus can take up to 9 people, which keeps the experience relaxed, friendly, and easy to enjoy. Private tours are also available for smaller groups who would like a more tailored day.
